Transportation Animation!!

LEARN: Transportation is a growing issue in Modesto and other local growing communities in the valley. Transportation is not just a single issue with one single solution. This issue reaches out to many other issues such as pollution, traffic congestion, road rage, etc. With a huge lack of options as far as commuting to and from work whether you work across town or you commute to the bay area, our freeways are bumper to bumper and the number of cars and amount of pollution is ridiculous.
ACT: My solution for those of us who stay close to home to attend work and school is a local carpool system. This is almost like a taxi service but it is organized through three or more people all traveling to the same area. If we can get three people to a car, that cuts the traffic into thirds, which cuts pollution and all of the other issues that transportation is causing into thirds. All you have to do is buddy up with a couple people from work or people who work in the area and schedule a time for pick up and drop off. There would also be a single rider list where you can search for others in your area who work or attend school in close proximity to you if you do not have two riders to acompany you.
IMAGINE: Just imagine if more ideas than just a local carpool service became the required way to travel. Sure, everyone enjoys having their own personalized vehicle and coming and going anytime anywhere as they please, and this would still be allowed. But maybe one day with carpool or group transportation in tact, traveling to and from your destination will be a lot quicker, safer, and easier whether it is for business or pleasure. Go green!

Mission 3 Animation!!

*Interactive bone tool on female officers left arm to reveal her weapon*

LEARN: The problem seems simple and the solution seems extremely complicated. The problem lies in the fact that there are too many criminals and not enough police officers. Due to budget cuts and other issues, staff has been cut in the local police force and there are people and issues slipping under the radar because of the lack of numbers on the force.
ACT: My solution, as shown in my animation, actually does require super heros. The good news is that these super heros are very different from Super Jameson. They do not have electric shocking bats or absurdly big muscles. They are the everyday people that live next door to you and I. They are good men and women who volunteer their time and assistance to be peacemakers to smaller, less dangerous issues that occur in our city. This will free up the trained and armed police force for the more dangerous and urgent issues that would take a highly trained individual.
IMAGINE: I believe that in the future we could utilize the use of volunteer, just as the local fire department has. Volunteer fire fighters are paged when their assistance is needed and they respond because they want to volunteer their community service. Volunteer police officers could make a huge difference because if one less officer is tied up in an issue that a volunteer could handle, that may be the one officer that is available to prevent a crime from happening that could save lives.

Mission 2 animation!

LEARN: After doing some research I have discovered that the beginning of our recession began with the plunge that the real estate market and the employment was a casualty of the real estate market crash. When people could not afford their homes it forced then into foreclosure and everyone fell further and further behind on their payments and bills. This also caused people to be out of work because with so many people in debt, there was no spending and the economy crashed. This is where my action takes place.

ACT: My approach is that the general public needs to put money back into the economy. People saving instead of spending hurts the economy but they are afraid to put money into the economy with the fear or being laid off or losing their job. If everyone collectively spends “X” amount of dollars into local small businesses then that would be beneficial for the economy and small businesses could grow and would be able to hire more employees. Small business growth would attract big business to want to come into the community, which creates even more job opportunity. City council should notify all residents on Modesto that the second weekend of every month is going to be the time to shop at discounted prices, dine for less, and enjoy entertainment that Modesto offers for a cheaper price. It is not mandatory that everyone participates but city council is purposing to everyone of Modesto that if we collectively do out part in trying to boost the economy and if business owners partake in discounting their products then we can get our local economy headed in the right direction.

IMAGINE: With this new proposition in place I believe that we could start to increase spending and get the money flowing back through Modesto’s economy. With the creation of more jobs I believe that the unemployment rate would decrease and the people who are so financially tight and could not afford to take advantage of the citywide discount weekends, they now will be able to with a job. Unemployment decrease, money flow increase, improvement in economy, and overall better employment situation for Modesto.

Mission 2 sneak preview!!

First and last scene of the employment animation!!

Education Animation!!!

LEARN: I have learned that there are many issues with the educational system in Modesto. The approach I chose to take on how to "fight crime" that is going on in schools is not to focus on the lack of money and funding, but to take what we do have and make the most out of it. What we do have are environments that are not adequate for positive learning environments. Children need to feel safe and not be worried about fitting in, being bullied, or being excepted in a learning environment.

ACT: I purpose that schools give a lot of focus to making the learning environment safe and productive. Budget cuts have caused the number of teachers to decrease which means less one on one time with the students so with time being limited I think that quality beats quantity. The quality of the school environment is corrupted when "bullies" make children fear coming to school and make then unable to focus while at school. I think that this problem is solved by getting the parents involved with speaking to their children about appropriate classroom behavior and having a "No Tolerance" policy when it comes to bullying. Harsh punishments resulting in privileges being taken away to enforce these rules. Children need to understand acceptance and that school needs to be full of positive reinforcement with revoked privileges if you put another students educational opportunities in jeopardy.

IMAGINE: With these actions in place I believe that one day schools everywhere will be positive and fun environments for kids to gets an education but also to make them better, more accepting and understanding people. Education is so important and when money and the amount of teachers and materials are lacking, we must make what we have the most positive and productive as possible. One day all children across the country will wish school would never end!

Origins of Super Jameson

Just your average teacher leaving his classroom one evening after a long day of enlightening high school seniors, Jameson heard a strange noise coming from the back on the building. He quickly hid in the shadows of the classroom wall and gently placed his ear against the wall to listen in on the conversation by the unexpected visitors. He overheard their plot to break into the school and steal the new computers from the computer lab next to his classroom. Jameson had never been the confrontational type but at this moment he knew he could not turn the other cheek and calling 911 would give the criminals time to get away with all of the school's newest prized possessions. Since it was a school he did not keep any weapons nearby but just in the nick of time he remembered that the school baseball team, which he coached, stored their team equipment in his classroom. He went over to the gear and chose to remove a baseball bat from a bag and he happened to choose the bat that hit the winning hit in their game earlier that day. He took a deep breath and hoped that the bat would bring a victory to the school just as it had in the game earlier that day. As he rushed around the corner with the "miracle bat" he caught the two thieves in the act, computers in hand, masks hiding their appearance. As Jameson raised the bat in preparation to defend himself and his school, the bat radiated electricity and gave quite the jolt to the two thieves. The jolt left them in shock on the floor at the feet of the brave teacher and he was able to call 911 and the thieves were taken away. Jameson didn't do anything more than raise his team's winning bat and it sent a shock that fought crime without even putting the bat to use. The bat is now used by every player on the baseball team and is kept in close proximity to Jameson when he stays late in the classroom.

Secret Identity!!

Hello, I'm Kacey and this is my super hero, Kennan. I created this super hero to be his alter ego because I wanted to switch it up and create a male super hero instead of a provocative female with a shiny leather suit and kick ass weapon, as I would have if I created an alter ego for myself. Kennan is a super hero in real life as well because he serves his country in the military. I guess it is not much of a secret identity if he carries on his super hero actions into his real life. I chose this name for his alter ego because it was the name of one of his favorite high school teachers. We have been together for over three years now and the picture above shows us in the subway station in New York. I am an art major with an interest in graphic design at CSU Stanislaus. I am a daughter, a sister, a friend, a girlfriend, a cousin, a niece, and a teammate. We both spend our free time living life while taking little for granted and our home is our own little get away from the world. We will both continue to fight our own battles that life throws our way, but in a much different way than in a cape with a baseball bat, although after 12 years of playing softball, a bat was my own touch on Kennan's super hero alter ego!
